“Cataloging 100 Billion Collectables…”
hobbyDB is a giant database of collectibles and an Amazon-style marketplace for the $200 billion collectible market. We’re alumni of the TechStars 2015 Boulder program and are well on our way to cataloging every collectible ever made. Now we want to add a full-stack developer to our collection of employees to help us get there.
Our awe-inspiring stack is built using PostgresSQL, Ruby on Rails and Angular JS. The hobbyDB codebase is designed to be extendable and maintainable in the long term thanks to its unique component-based architecture which makes groundbreaking use of Rails Engines, so you won’t be bored by the same old thing here!
You are:
- A senior software engineer with significant experience building consumer-facing applications using Ruby, Rails & Rails Engines and Java.
- Experienced with TDD or BDD and continuous integration. We like automated testing and do it on everything we build.
- Someone who thrives in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Agile!
If you have some UI/UX skills, Dev Ops experience and enjoy collecting, we would sit up and take extra notice, but those aren’t required.
About hobbyDB: Based in Boulder, Colorado and powered by collectors worldwide, hobbyDB is building a giant database of every collectible ever made – from diecast cars to action figures to comic books to corkscrews. It’s also more than just a place to research, find values, browse and reminisce. The database powers a collection management system where users can upload images and record data about their own collectibles to keep track of them. There is also a marketplace where users can list their items for sale with just a few clicks, build wish lists and receive alerts when stuff they want to buy goes up for sale.
hobbyDB is a community of 590,000 users who’ve helped take our catalog past 500,000 entries. We want to multiply that by a factor of 10x over the next 12 months.
